Africa Cup

So the Africa Cup of Nations is underway. I have enjoyed watching football/soccer ever since the last world cup when I spent most of the summer at 249 New River Farms. Man those were some good days. Anyway when I was in Europe last summer the Eurocup was going on, and since then I have been actually making an effort to watch more football. I like Manchester city, Bayern Munchen, and the German national team. And now of course being in Ghana I am all for Ghana. I am lucky enough to be in a household that also loves football, and even though there is no electricity in my village, I have still watched every game. How is this possible? John (my counterpart/father/landlord) for some reason has a tv and cable hooked up at our house. They bring a generator every day and everyone from the nearby area comes to our house to watch football. Im going to guess there are somewhere around 80 people that crowd onto my veranda, twice a day. It has been really fun. Of course they are most involved when Ghana is playing, and I am trying to think of a way to videotape their reaction when Ghana scores without being totally creepy but they go nuts and it is really awesome. Ghana is playing today. :)

Other than that I have been still trying to figure out what food i can make, going to market, and hanging out with local people. I formed one group of people who want to work with me and we had our first meeting. Now I am here in the Koforidua because I am going to buy a bike.
